Exercise Training
To some the word exercise might stir up, some dreaded images and feelings. While to others it sparks energy and excitement. I can relate to both 😊
Our past experiences and journey do have a strong influence on our feelings toward exercising. In my experience it started as a positive one, fueling my passion for sport and physical activity, and gaining my honors degree in Sport Science. However, it too became a negative experience when I began developing a terrible body image as a young teenager. As I entered by early twenties, I used exercise as a tool to keep what I thought was a good, healthy body, but was in fact very destructive.
Having done long, steady-state cardiovascular workouts for over 15 years, in the form of running, it led to many injuries. About three to four years ago I encountered a serious and painful one. I had to sadly slow down on the passion I had build up towards my running. On the positive side, I was able to train myself, who has more fast-twitch muscle fibers (ideal for sprint like activities) to become an endurance runner.
I have also been doing strength training in the form of kettlebell and weight training, flexibility, agility, balance, coordination an anaerobic training. All forms of these trainings have added value to my overall body health.
Recently with the popularity of the scientifically based seven-minute workout, I tried it, loved it and gained valuable benefits from it.
